Full set of Netherite Armor

Netherite Armor is the most powerful, strongest, and durable armor available in the game, and a must-have if you want to survive against some of the toughest mobs you’ll face. Netherite Armor debuted in the Nether Update (v 1.16).

Wondering how to obtain this armor? It’s not easy, because Netherite Armor must be upgraded from existing Diamond Armor and requires hard-to-obtain Netherite Ingots. You’ll need to take a few trips into the Nether to gather all the necessary materials. The step-by-step guide below will show you how, and you’ll be looking very sharp in your full set of Netherite Armor in no time at all!

Step By Step Guide to Make Netherite Armor

The first thing you need to know about Netherite armor (as well as all other Netherite weapons and tools) is that to make them, you must upgrade a diamond version of the same item by combining it with a Nether Ingot. Follow the steps outlined below to do this. These steps apply to all the different pieces of armor, including the chestplate, helmet, leggings, and boots.

  1. First, you’ll want a Diamond version of the piece of armor you are upgrading. When you upgrade to Netherite, the resulting armor will keep all the previous enchantments you had on the original Diamond version. The only enchant that will no longer work with Netherite is Mending. Otherwise, make sure you’ve got a fully enchanted piece of diamond armor before proceeding.
  2. To upgrade your diamond armor to Netherite, you’ll need one Netherite Ingot. To make a Netherite Ingot, you’ll need Netherite Scraps. And to make Netherite Scraps, you’ll need Ancient Debris? Just keep following these steps to see how that’s done.
  3. Head deep into the Nether to begin mining for Ancient Debris. It’s extremely rare and found most often at y level 15 (and surrounding areas). Read the full guide to mining for Ancient Debris for everything you need to know to find it quickly.
  4. You’ll need to assemble 4 Netherite Scraps to make a Netherite Ingot, and one Ancient Debris can be smelted into a single Netherite Scrap. So, you’ll need to keep mining for Ancient Debris until you find four blocks of it.
  5. Smelt your four blocks of Ancient Debris in a furnace to create four Netherite Scraps.
  6. Combine the four Netherite Scraps on a crafting table with four Gold Ingots to make a Netherite Ingot.
  7. Now that you’ve got your original Diamond Armor and a Netherite Ingot, you’ll need to combine them on a Smithing Table to upgrade the armor to Netherite.
  8. If you don’t already have a Smithing Table, you can craft one using two Iron Ingots plus four wooden planks (any type of wood will work).
  9. Place your Diamond Armor and the Netherite Ingot on the Smithing Table and congratulations! You now have your first piece of Netherite Armor.

Now that you’re decked out in your fully-enchanted Netherite Armor, you’re ready to withstand the worst from any mobs that you encounter in Minecraft.

When you complete upgrades for all four pieces of Netherite, you’ll earn the achievement, Cover Me in Debris.
